A long time ago, I taught myself how to draw and how to paint. I did a lot of stick figures and lopsided houses and trees like those that everyone else does in the beginning. Then eventually I tried my hand at those three characters from that free test offered in most magazines. The Pirate, turtle and teddy bear offered by the Art institute. I managed to draw them pretty well so I started to buy books like the Walter Fosters and others to help me draw.
For some strange reason, to me anyway, I also tried my hand at drawing people, took fashion magazine glossy photos, and practiced on the models. Well, I figured I could not afford to pay a real model to sit for me so I searched for a face that appealed to me and ripped out the photo. To me the paint was like the pastels or markers just to add color.
